My final print was of a golden retriever puppy! My family has two full grown goldens at home already, but my friend just got a puppy so we were so excited for them. When I went to see the puppy, he sat down easily and posed for the camera. My print shows the moment of the new puppy sitting nicely and modeling for everyone to see. I think my print worked out very well. When showing the fur on the chest and around the nose of the pup, I used thin lines of positive and negative space. I struggled with this part a little bit because sometimes I would carve too much, making there be no fur in one spot. When this happened I tried to balance it out and make there be less fur in other parts of the puppy as well. I learned to be super careful and think twice about every line I carve. I had to think backwards, knowing that what I carve out isn't going to show up when the image is printed. Another issue was making the outsides of the legs pop out. Because of the puppy's fur, there were so many lines going on that the lines bordering the legs blended in. I tried to fix this by making the leg lines thicker. This helped a little bit, but in the future, I would be more aware and maybe even start with the legs. Overall, my print was really cool. I think it looked just like the original picture and really showed the details of the new puppy.
