For my ink drawing, I chose to draw a beach. Not just any beach, the Mauna Kea beach in Hawaii. This place has so much meaning to me because I have gone there my whole life. I go with my whole family and it is truly my happy place. In the drawing, I tried my best to show space by the width and the way the lines are going. Some places are darker than others, creating depth. I these details add a lot to my piece.

If I am being completely honest, drawing in ik made my life so much harder. In the beginning, I was scared to touch my paper, but over time I figured it out and became more comfortable. The problem with this was that I became too comfortable. My nib would drip a lot and what started out as a sunny and happy beach, turned into a dark and windy beach. Whenever the nib would drip, I would have to blend out that dark spot; in the waves of the ocean, the roof of the shack, and even the sand. I think I did a pretty nice job at working with my mistakes. If I were to do this project again, i would try and be aware of where I was holding my nip when it wasn't on the paper. I often caught myself holding the nib over my project which is when my nib dripped the most. I would also get myself to become more comfortable with using ink beforehand. I found that I had to go back to my practice sheet way to many times during the actually project. Although using ink was very difficult for me personally, I would be very interested in trying this out again.

In my opinion, the palm trees were the most successful part of my drawing. I think I did a nice job showing the wind going through the leaves by having all the branches swaying to the left. I used criss-crosses to shadow the trunks which looks very realistic and adds a nice detail. The trees also having some light, pale green coloring in the branches which brightens up the drawing from the stormy weather. I really like this part of my drawing and it was actually my favorite part to draw as well.
