Atmospheric Perspective is an illusion of depth in a picture. It is how far away objects take on the different colors and shades of the atmosphere. My painting shows atmospheric perspective by having eight different shades of blue/purple and one big plant in front being the main point of the painting. My painting shows a view of a plant looking very close to you but then also has mountains and cities blending into the back round. By painting this piece, I made myself more aware of how the placement of images and the colors of different areas affect the painting. That being, if the painting is all different shades of a certain color and there is area that appears closer to you and is a different color, that one area becomes the main focus point. My favorite part of this assignment was making the cities on the hill. I thought it was fun to use different colors that really pop out to show different homes and lights. I tried to create a balance of lights and darks so it wouldn't blend into the hill. If I did this assignment again, I would be more careful when lining the hills because my edges are very sloppy. Other then that, I think I did a great job showing atmospheric perspective.

WOW!!
